One of the things that kept ringing in my mind during these latest weeks is the church. We´re all pretty much set with all the definitions of it. We know that is not about buildings or institutions, but about God and people. We, the church, are still living in this world for a reason. We may be the only Jesus many people will ever see. We have the chance of changing someone´s life every single day. We´re the hands and feet of Jesus.
In the midst of the chaos we are the ones who should rise up and bring hope for these people. Show them love, show them we care, use what we have in our hands to help them changing the situation they´re living.
A good example of it is Charity: water, a non-profit organization bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations, right now to Haiti specially. One of their projects includes telling stories from the field trough photographs, besides the donations. They´ve raised money to provide clean water for thousands of people in different countries.
It may sound silly. Water? What´s the big deal? It´s not a big deal for us, who never really felt thirsty, but for those people the idea of drinking clean water is nothing but a distant dream that is starting to become true.
That´s just one idea. With a simple act they´re changing the reality of thousands of people. Maybe you can´t go this far, or help this quantity of people, but you can do something in your side of the world, with the few people you know. Maybe they´re not lacking this water, but keep your eyes, ears and heart open to see. That´s our chance of doing something. We´re not here just to hang.
